Multispecies Totem
on view at Earth Matter NY
Urban Farm on Governors Island NYC

The multispecies totem integrates the habitat of multiple species with solar energy and rainwater collection. It is a stackable, modular, vertical structure composed of units that create spaces for animals, insects and plants while forming a water-collecting funnel and supporting solar panels for human needs. It is fabricated with bio-based 3d-printed materials that are compostable The project aims to become part of the landscape and with time return to the composting cycle to support the mission of Earth Matter and the Zero Waste Island
The project aims to open us up to the world of urban birds and increase awareness of the enormous bird species’ loss due to bird collisions on building surfaces during bird migration (one bilion a year in the US).

We are thrilled to partner with Earth Matter and the Architectural League for this project! With a Movement Performance for the opening by Yana Schnitzler HUMAN KINETICS
